My father was 68 when he passed away in a Petaluma hospice way back in 1982...I was then still only 22. He had already been living with my (CHP) brother and his family in a rented house in Petaluma...but they lived there and for and for maybe only a couple of years. After that my bro then got his biggest desired transfer and up to our Humbolt hometoen area. That year (1982) I left Los Angeles and after finding out that our dad was dying. And even to this day I still adamantly belive and that my dad waited just long enough for me to get there. Because after my bro and I visited him that afternoon (afeter I drove to Petaluma from L.A.) I was (trying to sleep) on my dad's bed in his little room...but it turned out to be impossible, and I then had to go out and sleep on the living room couch. He died that night, and the hospice called in the morning to tell us. A few months after that I enlisted, and I was then co-stationed over in Okinawa Japan. One day I was riding my 10-speed down that one kinda highway in Petaluma (that had the long row of Eucalitus Trees on the side) and when I then suddenly hit a (covered with leaves) big hole in the road and i crashed over my handlebars and got a big cut in my elbow that I had to get 7 stitches in and a drain thing! An older couple was driving just past me and when I went down -- the guy saw me in his car mirror, they immediately then pulled over and came running up to me -- he thought that maybe he had hit me with his car! Lol But I then got up (straightened out my front wheel & handlebars) and I then kept riding up to my destination...to a 7-Eleven (or something) and to buy a 6-pack of Beer! I even can still vaguley remember walking into the store, and the first thing I did was (while still holding my busted-up arm) I asked the cashier for a couple of paper towels and so I didn't bleed all over their floor! Lol And that night my youngest nephew (still in Pampers) he was obviously somehow affected too...it was a trip! Dad (and grandpa) came to say goodbye...and to just his youngest Son and Grandson. I hope that I have now been able to make some folks smile. :)
